Bridge to Boatshed Run
The Rod Stevens Memorial Paddle is an event that is run in memory of long time Coalcliff SLSC member Rod Stevens who passed away at a tragically young age from Melanoma, promoting melanoma awareness and sun safe behaviours.

The paddle takes participants on a 3km course from Coalcliff Beach off-shore to the southern end of the iconic Seacliff Bridge and return.
Participants can compete for the winner’s trophy or participate for fun in a paddle which is truly spectacular, off one of Australia’s most scenic coastlines. Paddlers are supported by a comprehensive surf life saving water safety team which includes drones, IRB and jet skis. Participants who are competing for the trophy must paddle a surf life saving rescue board. Non competitors are allowed to use other types of boards.
Come and join the fun and meet Leo Stevens, Rod’s son, who is a Coalcliff Life Member, former President of the club, and a multiple winner of the event who competes every year and who will share with you his message about Melanoma Awareness and Sun safety.

Bridge to Boatshed Run
The ‘Bridge to Boatshed Run’ is Coalcliff SLSC’s flagship family event each season.
Apart from the annual ‘MS Sydney to Gong Bike Ride’ and the ‘USI Bike Race’, the Coalcliff SLSC ‘Bridge to Boatshed Run’ is the only sporting event that takes place on the world famous ‘Seacliff Bridge’.
Organised exclusively for club members and their friends and families, the run starts at the Southern end of Seacliff Bridge and takes competitors along ‘Seacliff Bridge’, past some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia.
The run takes place on a ‘Nippers’ day to allow our youngest members to participate in a run that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Family and friends are also invited to join the fun.
It is a sprint event of no more than 1.5 kilometres that takes competitors off the bridge, down Patterson Drive, down McNally’s staircase and across the creek, sand and pebbles to Coalcliff SLSC’s Boatshed.
Jog, run or walk and be part of the ‘Bridge to Boatshed Run’ and then end off with a sausage sandwich and a drink at our ‘Nippers’ canteen.
